Author Guidelines

Before preparing and submitting a manuscript, authors should carefully note that manuscript withdrawal is not recommended once the article has entered the publication process, including peer review, copyediting, layout editing, or other editorial stages. At this stage, Community Service: Jurnal Pengabdian dan Pemberdayaan Masyarakat has already allocated valuable editorial resources and time to process the manuscript.

Authors are therefore expected to prepare their manuscripts carefully before submission by following the guidelines and article template provided by the journal.

1. General Requirements

The journal accepts manuscripts that have not been previously published in any journal and are not currently under consideration or accepted for publication elsewhere.

The manuscript must present the results of community service activities that are relevant to the development of human resources and national competitiveness, poverty alleviation based on local resources, rural and coastal area management based on local wisdom, economic development, entrepreneurship, cooperatives, creative industries, MSMEs, environmentally oriented technology development, health, nutrition, tropical diseases, herbal medicine, arts, literature, culture, national integration, and social harmony.

The manuscript must be accompanied by a statement of originality from the author(s), confirming that the article is an original work and does not contain plagiarism.

The manuscript must be written using the journal article template.

References must consist of at least 15 sources, with a minimum of 30% coming from primary sources, particularly scholarly journal articles.

The maximum similarity index allowed for submitted manuscripts is 20%.

2. Manuscript Format

The manuscript must be at least 8 pages in length and typed on A4 paper using 1.5 line spacing, Cambria font, size 12 pt. Citations should be written using in-text citation or body note format.

Manuscripts may be written in either Indonesian or English using clear, proper, and academic language.

The manuscript should be arranged in the following order:

  1. Title

  2. Author Name(s)

  3. Abstract

  4. Keywords

  5. Introduction

  6. Method

  7. Results and Discussion

  8. Conclusion

  9. References

3. Article Writing Requirements

Title

The title should consist of 10–15 words. It must be concise, informative, and clearly reflect the content of the manuscript.

Author Name(s)

Author names must be written without academic titles. Each author must include an email address and institutional affiliation.

Abstract

The abstract must be written in both Indonesian and English. It should consist of 150–250 words and clearly describe the objective of the community service activity, the method used, and the main results or outputs of the activity.

Keywords

Keywords must be written in both Indonesian and English. Each version should contain 3–5 keywords that represent the main focus of the article.

Introduction

The introduction should explain the conditions, problems, or issues that form the background or inspiration for conducting the community service activity. It should also clearly state the objectives of the activity.

Method

The method section should describe the approach used to solve the identified problems. The method may include, but is not limited to:

  1. Community education, such as outreach or socialization activities aimed at improving public understanding and awareness.

  2. Science and technology diffusion, such as activities that produce products or technological outputs for target groups.

  3. Training, such as activities involving demonstrations or practical examples to develop specific skills.

  4. Mediation, such as activities in which the community service team acts as a mediator in solving problems within the community.

  5. Advocacy, such as mentoring or assistance activities for target groups.

This section should also describe the characteristics of the target group or community partner involved in the community service activity.

Results and Discussion

The results and discussion section should explain the outcomes or outputs of the community service activity. These may include increased knowledge, improved skills, developed products, strengthened community capacity, or other measurable outputs.

The results should also describe the level of achievement of the activity targets. If the output is a product, the manuscript should explain the product specifications, strengths, and limitations.

The presentation of results should be supported by relevant documentation, such as photographs, tables, graphs, charts, diagrams, or figures.

The discussion should be arranged according to the objectives stated earlier in the manuscript. It should provide logical arguments by relating the results of the community service activity to relevant theories, previous community service activities, or related research findings.

Conclusion

The conclusion should be written concisely while clearly describing the main substance of the community service results. It may also include recommendations for future community service activities.

References

References must follow the APA 6th edition style of the American Psychological Association. Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, or similar tools to facilitate editing, citation management, and review.
